Jazz and R&B trumpeter Lin Rountree is sizzling hot… and as far as I’m concerned, the next big thing in Smooth Jazz. Rolling straight out of the new, Detroit music factory, this soulfully funky player is deeply melodic and has an amazing knack for emotionally connecting to the music. SUMTHIN’ GOOD is the follow up to Lin’s 2005 debut GROOVETREE which blew us away. Listen, iff we thought this album was all that and a bag of chips, it’s safe to say that SUMTHIN’ GOOD is all that, a bag of chips and a Frappichino! Lin Rountree is as focused as he is funky… a hard working artist who has been playing since the age of 11. You can read about his credits at his website, LinRountree.com… he’s quite accomplished. Internationally acclaimed for world-class performances as a solo artist as well as a supporting musician for artists such as KEM, George Benson, Peter White and Tim Bowman. GROOVETREE brought Lin great success at radio, and we are certain that SUMTHIN’ GOOD will exceed his previous victories. The project features legendary guitarist Perry Hughes (Earl Klugh, Bob James), keyboardist Bamm Davis and soul sensation Amp Fidler. The title track is the first single and it’s sure to capture the attention and hearts of radio programmers and jazz fans everywhere. Every one of Lin’s lucky 13 tunes on SUMTHIN’ GOOD sparkle with tight, spirited grooves and first class production. We found it! This is the one to watch in 2008.
The Evolution of Lin
I have known Lin since college and have heard him progress as a member of the marching band to one of the premier trumpet players in the industry. He has been at this a long time and he is truly proof that hard work, persistence and luck do amount to success. This album is better than the last and I can't wait for the next. Lin, if you ever read these please know you have a fan for life.
