Great American Music
I host a weekly independent music podcast called The Great American Music Hour (available on iTunes) and have recently discovered the music of The Spanic Boys, much to my delight. This father-and-son band embodies the best that indie rock has to offer: great tunes, tight lyrics, "ragged but right" playing and production, and a sense of humor. The drum pattern on "Sunshine" sounds lifted from The Beatles' "Tomorrow Never Knows," and "What Will You Do" would have felt right at home on The Stone's "Sticky Fingers," but The Spanic Boys are original enough to avoid direct comparisons with their musical forebears. If you like good old fashioned rock and roll, you'll love this.
