iTunes Review

Italian super-producer Cerrone has had a long and storied career, releasing dozens of albums, pioneering the Eurodisco sound, and influencing multiple generations of artists. His third album, Supernature sold over 8 million copies and is known primarily for its title track, a massive hit worldwide that was a staple in clubs during the late 1970s. Comparable to the works of Giorgio Moroder (and eventually, Kraftwerk and Afrika Bambaataa), its epic, ten-minute length and proto-electro vibe was the perfect soundtrack to a night of chemically-enhanced, sweat-drenched, dancefloor decadence. The other five tracks here are impressive if less famous; "Sweet Drums" is basically a three-minute drum solo, "In The Smoke" is a low-key, come-down instrumental built on spooky synths and sparse sound effects, while the second side's love trilogy "Give Me Love," "Love Is Here," and "Love Is The Answer" are all high energy anthems loaded with horns, strings, female vocals, and intricate percussion.

Customer Reviews

Timeless, influential, highly danceable

This record transcends its genre and is not only Cerrone's finest recording, hands down, but one of the unsung great records of the 1970's purely for its massive influence on dance music to come. Only "I Feel Love" can be said to have had a larger impact.

DUUUUUDE what is this???

This is awesome! You could totally put this on at a club today and still get people moving!
