Album Review

A valuable seven-track EP, Surfing on a Rocket features five radical remixes of songs from the Talkie Walkie LP as well as the obligatory unreleased track. With no album version in sight (thankfully), the record begins with "Surfing on a Rocket" as done by Nomo Heroes, a track that lies closer to a cover version than a remix; although it lacks the immediacy of Air's version, it's a more enticing performance. Hip-hop production phenom Mark Ronson and rapper Rhymefest transform "Alpha Beta Gaga" into a goofy rap singalong, and excellent newcomer Joakim revisits the early '80s with his remix of the title track.
