iTunes Review
Offering further proof of what a tight and creatively restless band they are, this fourth release by the Legendary Shack Shakers finds them again tweaking their possessed blend of blues, country, and rockabilly to deliver the swampy sound promised in the title. The Balkan gypsy touches of their last release have been replaced by a bayou-flavored boogie that lives somewhere between the Delta and Appalachia, with scorching harp, frenzied piano, and guitars dripping with reverb. Featuring 16 songs in just over 30 minutes, the tunes flow along smoothly from style to style, moving from sly tent revival gospel (“Born Again Again”) to spot-on mountain jug band (“Jimblyleg Man”) to righteous rockabilly (“He Ain’t Right”). Frontman Colonel J.D. Wilkes’ lyrics conjure up colorful images of feral beasts, sepia dreams, cattle stuck in oak trees, biblical floods, and other signs of a Southern Gothic apocalypse, and the energy and drive of the band never eases up. Swampblood reveals a crack — and cracked — band at the height of its considerable powers.

possibly th* best to date
those who know, know it's "those"
this album flat out rocks. it's got their sound honed to what the last two albums were shooting for and missing with a few of the songs and hitting with the others. definitely worth the cash!
the shack shakers live show is NOT to be missed so catch them on tour. they were great back in nashville '97 and are just as entertaining now. less rockabilly and more rock but just as catchy and kicka$$. still awaiting the old live version of Ghostriders In The Sky though, JD
awesome
but even better live
Viva Pacucah!
Rarily is it when a band tops each previous album, yet LSS has done just that. This isn't the frenzied chaotic bliss of Panderlirium, nor was it meant to be. Swampblood is 16 groovin', gritty, hind-quarter kick'in rock jangles that demand your attention. A beautiful finale to the trilogy! See them live --- truly the best band taking any stage today!
