iTunes Review

Like so many artists before her, Beyoncé has designed an album that reflects a dual personality. The first side (I Am…) demonstrates her vulnerability, while the second half, named for Beyoncé’s superstar alterego Sasha Fierce, exudes attitude and assertiveness. From the first set, “If I Were a Boy” and “Disappear” are acoustic downtempo tunes that follow in the mold of Beyoncé’s smash hit “Irreplaceable.” On the opposite end of the spectrum, her larger-than-life voice is perfectly suited to the sonic enormity and melodrama of “Halo,” even if the song is a blatant retread of Rihanna’s “Umbrella.” Although Beyoncé sometimes suffers from a desire to do too much at once, she is one of the few performers who can swiftly shift from a song like “Ave Maria” (which subtly matches the ancient melody to a gentle drum track) to the booty-shaking uproar of “Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It).” She even has enough sass and swagger to pull off the fearsome throb of “Diva,” a fearsome track that would usually go to a mean-eyed rapper like Young Jeezy. Even if Sasha Fierce forgoes the vintage soul that elevated past tracks “Crazy In Love” and “Déjà Vu,” the album accomplishes Beyonce’s goal of showcasing a diverse set of talents.

I love beyonce and love her music and style! I would have gave this album 5 stars but i just have 1 problem with one of her songs: video phone. I think the message she is trying to spread is all wrong. :(

I like beyonce but let's keep it real....

the album is bad...First let me say that the majority of the songs (especially on the I Am side of the CD were stolen or recorded without permission..IF I Were a Boy was written by a young unknown woman BC Jean, Halo was written by Ryan Tedder of OneRepublic, orginally for Leona Lewis, Ave Maria (Ugh, remake), Smash Into You (originally written by pop rock artist Jon McLaughlin, Ego (I read it was either written by or originally for Chrisette Michele)...and I'm sure every single song on here was either written by someone else...but that's just one thing that makes this album bad...I think beyonce changed her style too much too soon...her signature style is usually upbeat or "fierce", if you will..But it just sounds too "bubble gum pop" for me...but thats all I gotta say. Im not gonna hate cuz I know this album has done well and her bank account will keep growing and growing........Just hope next album is better Bey...much love though
