Customer Reviews

Real. Dark. Blues.

These might be the darkest blues you've ever hear. That being said, this is one of the freshest glimmers of hope for the blues and indie garage rock in recent years. Their sound is primal and simplistic yet layered with excellent distorted grooves that hark to Junior Kimbrough. "Good Night...", "Bad Seed" and "Devour" sound like they were written for you to sit at a bar, alone, while staring at yourself in the mirror, wondering how you got to this point or why he/she left. Then again, songs like "Blackwater" and "Lovesick" ask to be cranked while flying down a dark road at 2 a.m., growling and screaming with the lyrics as you flip the headlights off just to see how dark your world really is. It's that good. There are slow burners that make memories hurt harder than you remember and driving beats and riffs to grind the teeth. Put this on at the end of the party when the one you had your eye on for the whole night is down the hall w/ someone else instead of with you. An album to drink alone to. This is absolutely dark. They are absolutely blues. This album is absolutely perfect.

True Blue Blues

I bought this album as soon as the Itunes store got it. And the money was well spent. This album is pure blues, the dark haunting kind of blues. From the Intro you know you are in for an amazing album, and it doesn't disappoint, no filler here. My favorite track is "Better Off Dead", it seems to have a perfect groove. I also love the album version of "Blackwater", and "Lovesick" has some awesome guitar work as well(but then again, so does the whole album). And one can't forget the tracks "Sweet Misery and "Devour" which are some hauntingly chilling blues. Black Keys fans will surely enjoy, as well as fans of the White Stripes bluesier side, and just like those bands, there are only two guys in Blackwater Fever, which might seem hard to believe after listening to the album. All in all an amazing album that no blues fan should be without.

Awesome

Benn while since their last release and well worth the wait. Great, great album. Dirty guitar riffs and solid vocals, love the sound. Blackwater fever has the kind of sound that just works. Buy it!
