Customer Reviews

finally available in US

I've been following FAKE? for years now, and am so glad that their music is finally available on iTunes. My favorites are Novacaine and Homesick, but the album as a whole is a pretty comprehensive and collective summary of what makes FAKE? so great, which is their diversity and ability to successfully execute new styles. Haven't come across another band that can pull off what FAKE? effortlessly wins at each time. For those of you who like alternative rock with a twist, Switching On X is definitely something that should be in your library.

A must-have for any rock collection!

J-rock lovers and fans of progressive music, pay attention: this album is mind-blowing. Ken Lloyd has evolved into one of today's most experimental but reliable artists - reliable, in the sense that you know what he creates is fresh and true to his core rock aesthetic. He serenades, screams, and excites you with all of the above, and his organic approach to songwriting never tires the ear.

Switching on X has been on my iPod, car stereo, and alarm clock since I made the purchase...it's hard to stop listening!

Best Album Yet

"Switching on X" is by far the best work by Ken lloyd and Fake? to date. Its so progressive, but still delivers those amazingly catchy choruses. I downloaded the album and haven't been able to stop listening to it - front to back each time. It's so diverse that I don't even feel the need to listen to anything else on my iPod! Thank you, Fake? for making me fall in love with music again!!

Early on, the band mixed alt-rock with some trippy electronic elements, but after a while, it became a solo vehicle for Lloyd, who gave it a heavier rock slant. Lloyd and Inoran teamed up in late 2001, but Fake only debuted live the next year, playing in Shinjuku. Soon, the band released its first single, "Taste Maximum," and the first full-length Breathe...
