iTunes Review
Fans of the Brian Jonestown Massacre often regard 1996’s Take It from the Man as the band’s pièce de résistance. As expected, there’s plenty of ‘60s Stones worship going on — “Who?” borrows heavily from “She’s a Rainbow,” while “Caress” sounds like a little brother of “The Last Time,” and on the 11- minute version of “Straight Up and Down” they straight-up steal the woo-woos from “Sympathy for the Devil.” But for everything taken from Mick and Keith’s playbook, there’s the same amount of original ideas coming to glorious psychedelic fruition. “Vacuum Boots” is a rocking love song that opens with backwards guitar solos and a chorus melody so infectious; it could have come from any decade. “Monster” takes a stab at space-folk with acoustic 12-string, tambourines, delayed slide guitars and more reverb than the Carlsbad Caverns. The libidinous “Oh Lord” is bursting with snowballing garage-rock tension, while the brilliant “Cabin Fever” lets guitar player Matt Hollywood deliver some indie- rock gold as he muses on a madness that came from living in the attic of his own groupies’ home.

Who are the Stones?
Anton and company did more than hold a candle to the stones with this album - they Took it from the Man! This is a rock and roll masterpiece.
An Unacknowledged Rock'n'Roll Masterpiece
This album is amazing, listening to it start to finish can really be an experience. Sure, most people haven't heard of it. But I think in a future time "Take it from the Man!" will be counted amoung the greatest albums of all times... seriously, its that good.
I cry everytime I listen to it!!!!
Okay! They've out done themselves this time. This may be better then Give it Back... alright maybe not pound for pound but it's almost just as good. Is this Anton Newcombe guy serious? What a genius! He's profound and human at the same time. Beautiful but honest. Our version of Jim Morrison. What an album and what a band. It's everything great rock n roll and art stands for. Everyone do themselves a favor: go see A documentary called DIG and pick up Thank God For Mental Illness, Give It Back, and Take It From The Man! It'll musically change your life and perspective on this thing everyone calles rock n roll. Trust me.... it's real!!!!
