Chicago’s Fall Out Boy built enough of buzz by the time Take This to Your Grave was being recorded that funding and support for the band came from both a major label and an indie label, with the major winning the contract for future records. Once Take This... hit the charts and had legions of young emo-punks singing along and posting on web sites about how the band saves lives, its future was clear. Where young lyricist Pete Wentz came up with the insights and clever wordplay, riffing on everything from romantic angst to personal doubt, is hard to fathom. But the intersection of his writing skills and the band’s ability to strike a balance between melodic and abrasive produced a winner. Hints of hardcore and street sassy permeate the songs, with punchy, frugal guitars driving vocalist Patrick Stump’s voice amid some truly striking harmonies. Killer singles “Dead On Arrival,” with its Green Day overtones, and “Grand Theft Autumn” — where drummer Andy Hurley’s spot-on target practice and the dueling guitars of Patrick Stump and Joe Trohman really shine — laid the groundwork for the band’s major label debut in 2005, and put the band at the top of the emo-punk-pop pyramid.

Take This to Your Grave... I'll Take It to Mine
Fall Out Boy's major label debut can be dubbed as nothing short of brilliant. I know better than anyone that emo music has earned itself a bit of a bad reputation in recent history, but Fall Out Boy brings a new slant to the good old lovesick lyrics. Throughout the album, the music itself is insanely catchy, appreciable even if you haven't suffered a recent heartbreak. The true beauty of the album, however, lies in poignant and thought-provoking lyrics, which seem to effortlessly capture the essence of lost love. A few highlight tracks include the ever-popular "Grand Theft Autumn," which remains peppy and catchy despite its heavy theme of jealousy. "Sending Postcards from a Plane Crash" is refreshingly bitter, and frankly, just what we need to hear after having our heart wrenched out. "Calm Before the Storm" is amazingly clever in its lyrical delivery, and my all time favorite track, "The Patron Saint of Liars and Fakes," is brimming with emotion. Overall, "Take This to Your Grave" is an amazing effort, blending fun, catchy melodies with emotionally-charged lyrics that seem to grasp the very essence of a broken heart. Not just for angsty teens, this album is for anyone who appreciates amazingly written music with wonderful melodies, stellar vocals, and emotional delivery.
Fall Out Boy- Take This To Your Grave...
This is their best record I think. On each album, there's no way you can skip tracks. FOB has gotten me through the hard times. Through holding a knife to my neck, to turning up the stero. FOB writes unbelieveable lyrics. They know what every teenager is going through, 'cause they were once kids, and at heart they still are. If it weren't for FOB I guarantee, I would not be alive right now. -I'm tired of all the TEENIE BOPPERS. How they say 'Pete Wentz is so hot.' Now after saying that to yourselves, 'Do you really like the music, or just the bassist?' I could answer that for you. -cough- bassist -cough- Yes we all know that Pete is very attractive, but so is the rest of the band, Andy, Joe, and Patrick, not to mention their music. So please, check out one of their albums. Put it in your stero and blast those FREAKING speakers!!!!

the title basically says it all. it's their first album with all of the band members...and by far their best. it's got a close runner up with evening out with your girlfriend. but it rocks harder then futct. no radio play for this cd. and you'll never skip a song.
