Album Review
The Rugburns second album is filled with zany, heart wrenching tales of unrequited love and drug-induced madness. The songs are humorous, but at the same time earnest to the point of being disconcerting; possibly suggesting that songwriter Steve Poltz really fell in love with "The Girl With the Wandering Eye." Each tune feels upbeat and drenched in California sunshine, but the subject matter underneath the pop exterior usually revolves around the themes of uncaring women and disillusionment along the same vein that Too Much Joy experimented with in the '80s. Surprise guest Jewel sings backup vocals on "Old Lover's House," recorded shortly before her major label debut in 1995.

One of the greatest records of the 90's.
Holy crap! Am I the first person to praise this amazing album? Steve Poltz and company are at an all time musical high with this amazing collection of wacked out songs. The lyrics alone are reason enough to download this, they're fantastic and hilarious. I got to see them live at the Mercury Lounge in NYC during the tour for this record and became a life long fan! Will there be a Rugburns reunion anytime soon?
