Tone Heaven
If you want heavenly guitar tones look no further, this album is the bible on that subject. I would say that most of the tunes lean more toward fusion that rock but he does let go now and then.
You CAN buy a thrill
Not many albums like this one. You won't find scales like Al DiMeola, picking exercises like Steve Morse or "can you top this" like Steve Lukather. Well, a little Steve Lukather. But that's not to say Mike Landau isn't a terrific player. It's just that this album is in that sweet spot, too sophisticated for rock and too intense for smooth jazz. Hiram Bullock went there and sometimes Jeff Kollman and Cosmosquad do, but for my money this is the best. Beautifully recorded, too. Certainly not for everybody, but click on I'm Buzzed and you'll be able to decide. My only criticism is that he's never made another album like this one. The rest are perfectly ok rock/blues but not unique like this one.
