First off, it’s from sax man Darren Rahn, also arguably the most in-demand producer in Smooth Jazz today, with his projects dominating the Smooth Jazz Top 5 over the last quarter of ’08. He knows what works, and this collection of twelve tunes (all but three are originals) reflects that savvy. It also doesn’t hurt that he’s got players like Wayman Tisdale, Jeff Lorber, Tim Bowman, Bob James and his brother, horn man Jason Rahn, guesting on the project. Listen and watch this album’s first radio single, the title track, rocket straight up the chart, and you’ll easily see why I say that the very fact that it’s Darren Rahn virtually guarantees this album’s success. He’s innovative, he’s dynamic, and TALK OF THE TOWN contains a dozen more reasons why Darren Rahn’s stock is going to be flying high in 2009! ~SCOTT O'BRIEN
