iTunes Review
Taller Children is the charming major-label debut by the New York-based Elizabeth & The Catapult. This piano/drums/guitar trio spreads a lot of interesting ideas and styles across this release without missing a beat. They can move from light and playful gems like “Race You” and “Complimentary Me” to sophisticated pop ballads like “Rainiest Day of Summer” and “Golden Ink” with confidence. Elizabeth Ziman is the pianist, vocalist, and principal songwriter and her tunes are well crafted and crisp and the lyrics generally clever. She has a sweet and versatile voice that shows some bite (“Momma’s Boy,” “Taller Children,” “Hit the Wall”) as well as genuine tenderness (“Apathy”). Aided by producer Mike Mogis (who has worked with such artists as Bright Eyes, M. Ward, and Rilo Kiley) and a few guest musicians who add some nice orchestral touches, Taller Children is a thoroughly enchanting first effort.

Couldn't wait for the album and I'm glad it's finally out
I heard the title song, Taller Children, previewed a few weeks ago on a public radio program. I was hooked and couldn't wait for the full album. I have to say I'm not disappointed. This is good stuff and I hope Elizabeth & The Catapult are quickly catapulted into the national music scene.
Great new artist!
I stumbled upon EATCAT last July and fell in love with their self titled EP. So for almost a year now I've been patiently waiting for this album to be released and I wasn't disappointed. They have a beautiful sound and wonderful lyrics. Elizabeth's voice is so smooth and pleasing to listen to. If you're looking for a fun, smart and interesting album to listen to, then I would recommend Taller Children. My personal favorite song is Race You although the title track and Golden Ink (which is also on their EP) aren't too far behind. Actually, it's very hard to pick a favorite even though each song is so distinct yet works so well with each other. All-in-all, Taller Children is a great album if you're looking for something fun yet interesting. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone.
Taller Children
This debut album clearly marks a new standard for the singer/songwriter category. Listening to this woman (girl?) is like stumbling over young Mozart doing a Julie London at Woodstock. The strength of her melodic lines is inspired and her lyrics are drop dead hysterical or are imbued with insights (that should be) clearly beyond her years. Remarkable. Disc-Jacques I'm forced to write an addendum to my earlier entry: I caught this band at Joe's Pub for their release party. There's something unique going on here. The strength of accomplishment is overwhelming and untraceable to any recognizable roots. Classical chops notwithstanding, this is a stunning talent with a primitive human element that boils the music into a phosphorous blaze. I've run parties, but never felt so much a celebrant at a public event. A carnival of music in every sense. Everyone onstage was a virtuoso and I'm talking guys in skunk suits and chicken suits on the xylophone and strings. That opening will never be matched. It's feeling like the birth of a new musical era where the music is constantly surprising and satisfying. ... And she's gorgeous! Disc-Jacques
