Album Review
After working with artists like Caetano Veloso, David Byrne, and Towa Tei, Bebel Gilberto made her solo recording debut in the U.S. with Tanto Tempo, licensed for American release in 2000 by Six Degrees. It's an album of stylish, cool, contemporary bossa nova, with Gilberto's vocals a bit more assured and polished than Astrud Gilberto's classic and similar recordings of the '60s. The tone is restrained and subdued, simmering over the low heat of quiet passion; the instrumentation is mostly acoustic, although there are some unobtrusively electronic dance-club sounds as well. Overall, Tanto Tempo is a terrific, promising way for Gilberto to make her first impression as a solo artist.

A great album
I bought this great album years ago on CD and never tire of it. Listening to Bebel Gilberto is like being transported to the sunny beaches of South America. Great to listen to when it's 20 degrees F and snowing outside - like right now. Her voice is soothing, smooth and sexy. All are favorites, but August Day Song, Tanto Tempo and Samba e Amor are standouts. Her cover of So Nice is fun and happy. Close Your Eyes will bring you straight to Carnivale! Buy the whole album and enjoy for years to come.

Get a hammock, a drink and chill w/the one you love... This is the perfect soundtrack for that.

there's some gorgeous gems on this one, and her tone really cuts through the music nicely...my faves, 1-3 are amazing, so nice, and sama e amor is incredible....and that hammock review pretty much sums it up too
