One of the best romantic symphonies

This is one of my two favorite symphonies (Dvorak 9th). Have a great 30 yr old rendition on disc, but needed an electronic version. This is one of the most moving, romantic symphonies of all time to my ear. Lifts my spririts up, moves me along. The review that questioned the tone, it is true as nice as Apple speakers are, they cannot manage the range of this piece. Put your Bose headphones on and the fidelity is wonderful. Enjoy the crisp melodies, and the surging emotions of this wonderful symphony.

The Master at Work

For $12.00, 3 of Tchaikovsky's most beloved works isn't too bad of a price. The tempo's of each piece of played perfectly and each movement has just the tone that Tchaikovsky intended. The final movements of the 4th and 5th are strong but controlled.

Symphony no. 4 Brass could be better...

4 used to be a "buy work" instead of album only, so I cannot review the other two symphonies. Karajan did an awesome job. So did the orchestra - excluding the brass, in some moments. For me the beginning of the first movement the brass is too much "in my face", especially when the trumpets come in. This also is evident when the theme of the opening idea appears again in the finale. I have a recording of Bernstein with NYPO doing a much greater job than this in my opinion, but this is still a good recording. Karajan takes it faster in the first movement and finale than Bernstein, which is enjoyable, but Bernstein's slow pace brings out some of the more musical moments.
