The best hype music around

Telicatessen is the best Def Jux record I have heard and I've heard them all. Rob Sonic doesn't overload his music with a bunch of unintelligable jibberish and monotone raps. While his flows follow the same pattern on many of his songs, he does it so well that it is welcome and very catchy. If I am on my way to work or school and I need to pop in some music that will get me hyped or in a raw mood or if I just don't know what to listen to, I just give this CD a listen. It is one of the best uninformed pickups I have ever made.

Mind Blowing

this is one of my favorite albums of all time, i have listened to it more than any other album i own. i bump this in my car and everyone that hops in is like fascinated with this guy. tellicatessan is nothing short of genius. his beats are incredible, they are like bass heavy futuristic melodic gangster cuts. it sounds like rick ruben and the videogame megaman sountrack had a lovechild. rob sonic's lyrical style is like a word association game, and he is really good at it ex. "one way innocents, two way radio, gateway druggy with the run down ratio. " he continues with, "i stand out like a midget on stilts riding a unicyle, with a rifle as big as the stilt ready to snipe you." its unbelievable.

Blew Me Away

I mean, I did become introduced to my man Sonic through Tony Hawk's American Wasteland, but the moment I heard the rest of the album, I was shocked. Every single track lived up to 'Sniper Picnic', and maybe even outperformed it. His rhymes are relentless and his beats are insane. Rob Sonic's definitely changing the name of the game.

Growing up in Washington, D.C., Rob Sonic considered himself a rapper rather than a producer (he started rhyming in junior high), but as part of New York-based Sonic Sum, and on their 2000 release Sanity Annex, he took care of both duties. Thanks to his quick rhymes and interesting production, Sonic was soon approached by musicians like Slug and Mike Ladd, and in 2003 he was signed to Definitive Jux, who issued his solo debut, Telecatessen, a completely self-produced affair, the following year.
