Album Review
Thankful marked the end of Caedmon's Call's ten-year run with Essential Records. While 2004's Chronicles included live and rare versions of some of the band's hits, Thankful is a traditional best-of collection. The band's warm cover version of Rich Mullins' "Hope to Carry On" is included, as are acoustic favorites like "Lead of Love" and "This World." Over half of the collection is taken from their self-titled 1997 album and 1999's 40 Acres, leaving the remainder of their material a bit underrepresented. Fans might argue that the omission of number one hit "Coming Home" was an error. However, Thankful remains a fitting ode to the band's popular acoustic folk-pop.

New CD coming next month!
If you have never listened to Caedmon's Call, this Cd has some good songs, although not the best ones. Don't buy this Cd if you like Caedmon's, but if you would like to get a sample of them it's okay. If you are a fan, their next release is coming out the end of August and can be pre-ordered on their web site.
Redundancy
This album is a great way to introduce someone to Caedmon's Call, but other than that there's nothing new here. CC is not even on this label anymore. Caedmon's new album, Overdressed, releases on August 28th. It marks the return of Derek Webb to the band and it's amazing from front to back. You can pre-order it at caedmonscall.com

If you already have a bunch of Caedmon's Call, this is nothing new, but if you don't, it's some of their best.
