Not the Iconic version!!

"I can't Wait" has been the song I've been looking for, but where the hell is the iconic version?! You know: ha, ha, ha, HA, ha, ha, ha, huh.... Has anyone seen the recent Powerade commercial? I bought this and was sadly dissapointed as it is not the right one.

Outstanding EP...This Is Where It Began

If you're looking for the iconic/hit version of "I Can't Wait", you will not find it in this package. What you will find, however, are the grass roots of a band rediscovered from its late 70s rock foundation that transcended stereotypes with a funky flavor that resonated in their 1982 album, "Can't Turn It Off". What began as a four piece band grew into a 12-member outfit, rich with a blue-eyed soul that at times channelled everything from Harold Melvin & The Bluenotes, Hall & Oates, Tower Of Power, with a hint of the Sanford Townsend Band. As their popularity grew around their hometown of Portland, Oregon, the band eventually morphed into one of the biggest acts in the city; packing legendary hotspots like The Last Hurrah and Key Largo, filling houses even on a Wednesday night. It was during this transition that the band slimmed down its roster, allowing percussionist and background vocalist, Valerie Day, to step into lead vocal duties. Shortly thereafter, Nu Shooz ventured into the studio in late 1983 to record some new tracks for a demo EP that they could sell locally while shopping them around to major labels. While the interest was there, it wasn't until 1984 when KKRZ Z-100 began playing the second track from the EP, entitled "I Can't Wait" that the real story began developing. Vinyl 45s of the single and the follow-up, "Goin' Too Far" were released around the Northwest while remixed versions of "I Can't Wait" began showing up in clubs nationally. As fate had it, Dutch producer/remixer Peter Slaghuis ended up with one of the rare 12 inch copies and got to work on the catchy bass riff and signature synth overdub that gave rise to the "hit" version of the record that caught the ear of A&R reps at Atlantic Records and lead John Smith and Valerie Day into a record deal for what eventually would become 1986's "Poolside", 1988's "Told U So", and 1992's "Eat & Run" (which, sadly, remains unreleased to this day even after spawning the leadoff single, "Time Will Tell".

Again, if you're looking for the popularized version of "I Can't Wait", you will not find it here. Instead, you will find a song that was recorded and released as John Smith wrote it. Fresh, bright guitar work coupled with incredible horns, electric bass, and Valerie's gorgeously warm vocals and girl-next-door beauty and charisma that put them on the fast track to the top of the Billboard Pop, Dance, and R&B charts as well as frequent MTV rotation and TV appearances across the globe.

You may be looking for the aptly nicknamed "Dutch" version of "I Can't Wait", but I strongly suggest you get to know the "American" version from which it was conceived. This song, along with the other four titles from "Tha's Right" give a rare glimpse into the early days of one of the 80s most popular dance and Top 40 bands. This is the first time ever that any of the material from this project has ever been offered digitally, as "Tha's Right" was issued solely as a cassette with all five songs repeated on both sides. You won't be disappointed!

a microcosism of the iconic

I liked the iconic version more because it made the dance version what it is! I dont like it as much because it has too much x tra crap that makes it just longer but not better!!!
