amazing performances, excellent quality

A collection of wonderful, classic songs delivered with the emotional inensity that Judy was so well known for. Judy Garland could get inside a song and make you feel it as few others could. At this point in her career, Judy's voice had deepened somewhat, creating a passionate, sexy, sometimes husky sound but it worked for her. Judy never lost her gift of conveying emotion through song. The lyrics are secondary to the vocals in this album. "Ol' Man River," and "Battle Hymn of the Republic" are considered to be two of Garland's best performances in her career, "Battle Hymn" being a tribute to JFK a few weeks after his death. The sound quality is amazing on this album considering the source is a television show from the 1960's and not studio recordings. Much thanks to the team at Savoy.
