Customer Reviews
Excellent choices, excellent performances
I've been listening to classical music for 35 years, and this is such an ideal introduction. (I'm a little chuffed to see selections from my two favorite JS Bach compositions, the double violin concerto in D minor and the Brandenburg concerto No. 3, included here. I don't think they get enough love.). But there's so much much great music here. This is ideal for someone who wants to explore classical music, but who might not know where to start. Start here.
New to Classical Music and Love This Collection
I am a newcomer to classical music. I have heard the usual pieces and snippets of them growing up (parents with good record collections) and through college and from my teacher friends when they have the music on in the background while we play cards and chat. Maybe it is because I'm into my 40's now (41) that when I heard the 30 second clips of these songs, I had to hear more. I read these reviews and this collection seemed like a great place to begin my journey into classical music - and I bought it. First - 50 songs for $12.00? Even if this was a clunker collection, 50 songs was 50 songs. Second - the sound quality (to me) seemed great; like these were very well produced tracks. Third - Even I recognized some of these melodies (and maybe no I will be able to tell you who composed them) so they were familiar enough for this not to be a totally strange experience. Fourth - Even to me, these orchestras/performers seemed to be really well-accomplished ones and ones one would want to hear. Overall - this looked like a great investment in a lot of music that was well-known, performed by excellent musicians. Result - I am overjoyed by this collection of work as is my wife. We truly think we made off like bandits with this purchase. We also will be delving more into the classical music genre once we get familiar with these great works. One bit of detraction - unless I'm not using my iTunes correctly, once I purchased this collection, within iTunes I cannot see who the compser is for each track. I can see the track title and the perfoming group, but not the composer. This is slight inconvernience since I was looking forward to learning the different styles and work of these great composers. I can always look back at the iTunes store for these composers and will make a list of them. I would heartily recommend this collection to anyone - classical music fan or not - you will be completely pleased.
Just what I was looking for!
Perfect for us who doesn't really now where to look for the classic classical music that you want to have in your music collection, thanks!
