Wow four hard-to-find clarinet works
Alongside the Reginald Kell album ($40!!) this album is the right choice for a clarinetist or just someone who appreciates the woodwind family I guess. Make sure to purchase Bernstein's Sonata for Clarinet and Piano and the entire work for Gould's "Benny's Gig for Clarinet and Double Bass"- don't be fooled by the title, it actually works out and sounds fantastic, especially the last movement.

Larry Combs beautiful clarinet playing, coupled with these excellent compositions, makes for a wonderful listening experience. The CD's title is perfectly descriptive, in that there is no mistaking the geographic origins of this great music. A real slice of Americana. This collection made a terrific addition to my music library and, as a lover of clarinet, was a must buy.
