a disc that changed my life

there is a density to these songs that is really quite exceptional, considering how young the brothers Din are. several listens reveal a lyrical, musical and emotional complexity that simply astounds again, when considering the fact that these brothers are not, in fact, seasoned veterans of the music industry. they're simply, immensely talented, masha'Allah. their musical influences include U2, New Order, and South Asian artists such as the Sabri Bros (most notable on the track "Dedicated to the Haters of Song.") A popular figure in Arab culture once said "that the loss of a loved one is exile" and, with lyrics that are astoundingly poignant, Din captures the heartbreak of an exile that's not only personal (Nothing Doing) but popular (Refugee Citizen - a fantastic track that bears a striking resemblance, sonically, to the Arcade Fire.) There will never again be anything quite like this, as it truly captures a moment in time, and the musings, insha'Allah, of a pair of brothers whose influence will only grow in the years to come. -YKB
