Album Review
Twenty-two tracks from 1956-61, including most of their hit singles (the 1958 Top 20 entry, "Kathy-O," is oddly missing). "Little Darlin'" and "The Stroll" are quite obviously the class of the bunch, and there's a higher quantity of inferior pop-inclined covers of R&B/rock numbers than you might remember ("Why Do Fools Fall in Love," "Words of Love," "Silhouettes," "The Church Bells May Ring"). It's certainly the collection of choice, though, including a 1959 Australian single that was previously unavailable in the U.S., and the previously unreleased 1961 track "Chimes in My Heart" (written by Bill Medley of the Righteous Brothers).
Customer Reviews
!!!!!
My civics teacher's dad was in this band. They rock!
Batman, Wolfman, Frankenstein...
This is one of the all time greats. Batman, Wolfman etc... Is Timeless and hip as ever. Play this song for anyone of any age and they will love it. Play it for a rock'a billy fan, play it for a metal fan goth fan anyone. This song is simply AWESOME. I can relate.
Canadian Harmonizers
The originals are still the best...this group did a lot of cover versions of R&B songs that didn't get radio air play in many major markets. Their versions are clinically good, just lack the rough sound of the originals. That said, they are still a really good cover group and their version of "The Stroll" remains a R&R classic.
