Album Review
The Spinners lost lead singer Philippe Wynne in 1977, as he left to join Parliament/Funkadelic. While they were getting replacement John Edwards acclimated, Atlantic issued this greatest-hits LP containing all the gems with Wynne as their lead singer. Until the Atlantic two-CD set was issued, this was a definitive work, and it's still as complete a single album package as is available. It includes "Could It Be I'm Falling in Love," "How Could I Let You Get Away," "Mighty Love," "Rubberband Man," and "One of a Kind (Love Affair)," among others.

Early Spinners
It's A Shame and I'll Always Love You were their most successful tunes at Motown. They sounded a lot like the Temptations or the Four Tops and that was the problem for the Spinners...they were "competing" for Motown's attention with the Temps & the Tops! It wasn't until they moved to Philadelphia and changed to the "Philly Sound" that they became THE soul group of the '70s. This is not the "Philly Sound" Spinners but it is still a very good album. - BigB

No Phillppe Wynne on this LP, Motown produced this album, before Wynne joined the group...in 1972
