Album Review

Silk were always a remarkable collection of voices that harmonized so well, and they could preach the gospel of the bedroom like no other. R. Kelly based a career on Silk's greatest moment, "Freak Me," but the band's albums could be patchy. The biggest problem is that Silk's greatest moments were always about lust and sex, so the collection is a bit limited in topic, but if you have candles and essential oils in your bedroom you might as well have this. Best Of adequately covers their Elektra years, which was when things were really happening, so you don't need to go much further. Despite having roots in the dated world of new jack swing, Best Of still sounds fresh and what their singles lacked in grabbing production they made up for with wonderful harmonies. "There's a meeting in my bedroom/So girl please don't be late" is a line few could deliver without sounding silly, but check the way the members interact on "Meeting in My Bedroom," and you'll be a convert. The old remix of "Freak Me" gets tacked on to the end of the disc and makes the collection even more desirable. Unless you're an R&B historian, you won't need another Silk album.

This Best of is missing something, I feel it should be tittled, SILK: NOTHING BETTER!! This has songs that I haven't heard since I was watching Donnie Simpson & Sherry Carter on tv.
I remember when Keith Sweat took Silk out on the road to promote their first cd and they were off the charts- they had great moves, looks and could sing- live! Right then and there they had a fan for life.
This is worth buying because it not only showcases some of the best harmonies and vocal ranges out there from this genre, but Silk had the amazing ability to make you believe you could accomplish EVERYTHING they sang about.
They made you believe you were the fliest, the prettiest, the most handsome and everyone wanted YOU (ha ha)..
Thanks I-Tunes for making this available and helping me to lay back and enjoy old memories and helping to create new ones.
Are you able to handle where Silk wants to take you?

Silk is a smooth group. I'm african-American and I'm 13 years old. and I love the song Meeting In My Bedroom.
My mom is the old school Queen. I know ever Old-School song from Monica to Aaliyah to Newedition Candy girl cd and the song Jealous girl. Bobby Brown progattive. and I know who's ready this you cant believe it. But I love old school music better than new school. And Guess what Silk is smooth as Silk. Their voices roll so smooth like SILK. And I dont care who you are black, White, Asian, Puerto-Rican,Mexican, Japense, Chinese, mixed. Polish.... Etc... You have got to get the Cd and I promise you'll love the CD.
I mean the two songs that I love and I strongly suggest you listen to is...
Meeting In My Bedroom and If You
I'm so happy Itunes got their song. Cause I love their Cd. I wish music was like this again. I mean it's nothing like Silk

Formed: 1992

Genre: R&B/Soul

Years Active: '90s, '00s

This '90s R&B vocal group should not be confused with the late-'70s Philadelphia band, which was a funk-oriented unit, or the vocal trio Silk from Los Angeles.
