Intro: It's an intro. 'Nuff said.

Makeshift Kingdom: The album's single is different, but good. Unlike most Sweatshop songs, this one seems to focus on the beat, which is a good thing, as the synth and base heavy tune make for a solid song. One of the album's better songs.

Sunburn: This slower song is a cool, relaxed song. It has some great lyrics backed up by a solid beat. This track is held back by a mostly lyricless second half of the song.

Bring Back the Music: Starts off with a slow, interesting beat and some scratching, then grows from there. It stays slow, but has some good lyrics and a unique refreshing beat.

Nuclear Family: One of my favorites from my first few listenings. The rap style sounds more like classic Sweatshop and again has a good beat to it. The lyrics are great and hold this song up ("Love life or hate it, All life is sacred").

Bill Murray: A good upbeat song with good lyrics and some humor (It's the "Bill-est"). It contains many references to Murray's various works, particularly Ghost Busters. Overall a solid song.

John Lennon: A slower song that again seems to exalt its namesake. Not my favorite as it's a bit too slow for my liking, but good nonetheless.

Staring at the Walls (Too Late): A great close to the album. The almost eerie chorus is excellent, and is complemented by a quick, steady cadence in the verses.

Overall: This EP mixes some of Sweatshop's great classic elements with some new aspects. It seems to focus on beats and rhythyms more than other albums, a choice that I applaud. However, the lyrics fortunately remain the backbone of their songs. The album features some very good songs, but all are respectable and worth a listen.

Sweatshop at the Next Level

This EP is mind-blowing, really. Sweatshop taking their sound in a really new and original direction, every track is something totally original. The production here is beautiful and the rhythms are delicious. Nice work guys!
