Customer Reviews

There is a GOD!

There are those certain groups that you hope and pray will never go away and then you don't hear anything about them...and think "What a shame". How happy I was to find them still alive, well and STILL releasing great music. First got Man who built America when it was released and play it (VINYL VERSION) all the time but needed a new copy. To my suprise ITunes had it...and MORE! Sadly radio here in the states aims for 16 year olds that don't appreciate...Talent! Leaving so many great ARTISTS not being heard. So, Tell everyone about them, and buy buy buy...Support Music!

excellent album

i'm surprised i'm the first to write a review! i've listened through this album several times... it has lasting power. my favorite songs are "Trouble with a Captial T", "We Got the Power and the Glory", "Sword of Light", and "Sideways to the Sun". A cool feature of this album is the use of 'Taps' in the first, sixth, and eighth tracks; they work as great transition tracks. seeing as the horslips have been around since the seventies, this album is all the more impressive.

Rock + Flute = Great

I first heard Horslips on Pandora. The station I created was a Jethro Tull song and a ton of really crappy songs that sounded nothing like Tull played. Then a beam of light shone through my office and a rock song with solid vocals, a great story, and the ever entertaining dlute came on. You can bet I gave it the thumbs up. Opened me up the whole album.

At one point in the mid-'70s, Horslips seemed poised to become Ireland's answer to Steeleye Span. But they also had a shot at being the next Jethro Tull (only a better hard rock outfit), or maybe Genesis, or even Yes in their folkier moments. Those events never quite happened, but Horslips released half-a-dozen...
