Kele Adds a Newer Shade

I was a little dissapointed with "Tenderoni" because it just didn't seem that storng of a track but after hearing some of the other tracks it seems that this album is more sturdy than it single led it to be. the classical ballad-style sentimentality from Bloc Party's "A Weekend in the City" is evident in here with songs like "Everything You Wanted" (favourite song of this album), "The New Rules", "Unholy Thoughts", "Rise", and "Yesterday's Gone" and the rawness and synthetic yet organic feel of "Intimacy" is experienced in "Walk Tall", "On the Other Side", "All the Things I Could Say".

is it a strong album? well i'll say this: the highs on this album are high and the lows are VERY LOW. but the lows are scarce. I'm finding myseld to liking the second half of the album a lot.

Kele i think gave us all who were unsure form "Tenderoni" a good reassurance. Bloc Party I still think is much better but hey Kele did ok on his solo effort. he was jsut trying to try a differrent direction and did he suceed? ....eh somewhat. he got there with trial and error but in the end it was worth it.

"I find Indie quite boring"

is what Kele explained when he was asked if he was ready to re-form Bloc Party. "I find what I'm doing now much more exciting and I've already begun work on my next record."

Here's the message: It's a great album. It isn't "Silent Alarm", it's not supposed to be "Silent Alarm". It's not that Kele isn't capable of replicating "Silent Alarm", it's that he's so NOT interested in doing so. Who could be motivated by making the same record over and over??

I love songs like "Unholy Thoughts", "Yesterday's Gone", "All The Things I Could Never Say", the next single "Everything You Wanted" and "Tenderoni". All very strong, all very fun. If you love Kele's signature vocal delivery and are openminded to his attempt to thrill club-goers and concert-goers alike, you'll really, really dig this... But it MUST MUST MUST be played LOUD. This isn't an album for listening to on your 2-inch computer speakers....So why only 4 stars? I cannot get past the sped-up 'baby' vocals in "On The Lam". I pray to baby Jesus that isn't ever a single. Apart from that, the album exceeds expectations! And the best part? This is the ONLY place in the U.S. to get "Meet In The Middle". This song, for me, is just so fantastic! It may have to grow on you, but it feels like Kele is pouring his heart out in your room, in your car, on your treadmill, or wherever you're listening.

Not perfect, but definitely belongs next to a Bloc Party album.

When first hearing Tenderoni, I was very much anticipating this album. Now that it has arrived, I was not disappointed. Surpringly, this verson of "Tenderoni" is much more subtle than its music video version. Some tracks such as "Everything You Wanted" and "Unholy Thoughts" definitely have the Bloc Party essence, while tracks like "The New Rules," "Rise," and "All the Things I Could Never Say" bring in the new Kele solo feel - all of which are welcomed.

All in all, this album is a welcome addition in my library, and I will be listening to it for a long time. Awesome job Kele. I can't wait for more. :D
