iTunes Review

Following some self-released albums, Georgia’s Corey Smith signed with independent label Average Joe’s to release 2011’s The Broken Record. Smith cites Lynyrd Skynyrd, George Jones and Nirvana as his main influences, inflecting his songs with his Jackson County drawl while reminiscing on road trips, parties, one-night stands, and old friends. Mellow and rootsy “Carolina” sets the tone — showcasing grinding Hammond organ notes and acoustic arpeggios while Smith croons nostalgic narratives of his formative days.

Eh...

I'll always be a Corey Smith fan, but he's so over-produced now. What was wrong with Corey on guitar with a bass and drums? That's all he needed to make a great record. He now sounds like everyone else. Stick to your roots, not the mainstream.

Sadly disappointing!

So sad! Corey was an artist I've loved for over 8 years but this album is a BUST! He took his old songs that were amazing and has over produced them, which leaves them sounding stale and practically no resemblance of the artist I'd go see in crowded college bars! Disappointed!

Corey..Corey..Corey

You can never go wrong with Corey Smith...The Lyrics say it all....you are really missing out if u dont know who he is yet.
