Customer Reviews

We sold our souls for gold.

Alright, first off, iTunes' summary/review of this album is actually about their album BEFORE this one. I'm sure it's because their last album was self-titled (which was their ACTUAL self-titled debut) and this is their major-label self-titled debut. I guess they were too lazy to think of an album name. Album name or no album name, The Bronx do not mess around. I've been a long time fan and I recently caught them opening for Lifetime at the 9:30 Club in Washington DC. They tore the house down as vocalist Matt rocked out with a cast on his leg, hopping up and down on one foot and screaming his guts out. This album is song after song off catchy, rock-n-roll tinged punk/hardcore. My favorite songs on the album are "Sh*tty Future", "History's Stranglers", "White Guilt" and "Around the Horn". This album will surely appeal to fans of their earlier work as well as fans of punk music in general. I would have gave this album 5 stars but I just can't get into track #6, "Dirty Leaves". In my opinion, it slows down the flow of the album and would have been better off placed closer to track #10, or left off as a b-side. However, the 2 iTunes bonus tracks "Rockers NYC" and "Venice" make up for it. I'd sell my soul to The Bronx.

Album of the year.

I was a little skeptical when I heard the first few tracks released from this album. It seemed like a distinct change of style from their last self-titled album. However, after just a couple listens, it is quite clear that The Bronx has done it again, and this time, with more style. From the hard rocking beats of "Small Stone" to the slower "Dirty Leaves," this CD is a roller coaster that you'll probably get right back on once it ends. This album is different from the last CD, but in a good way. It doesn't stray too far from the formula, but it remains fresh throughout. For fans of almost any type of rock, or for fans of music in general, it doesn't get much more essential than the latest record from The Bronx.

the bronx will eat you.

amazing.

Biography

Genre: Rock

Years Active: '00s

The Bronx's swaggering interpretation of hardcore punk found them a quick audience in Los Angeles, where guitarist Joby J. Ford, bassist James Tweedy, vocalist Matt Caughthran, and drummer Jorma Vik founded the band in 2002. Known for a blistering live show, the quintet attracted attention from major labels after only a handful of performances. An offer from Island/Def Jam materialized after the Bronx's 12th gig, but the band decided to issue several recordings on its own label, White Drugs, before...
