Comedy and satire from the '70s

In the 1970s radio stations were required to give news broadcasts to maintain their licences. In Southern California several stations used the talents of Harry Shearer ( a one-time child actor, now political commentator and voice of myriad "Simpson's" characters, Michael McKean and David L. Lander (who co-starred in "Lavern and Shirley") and others created a salve to dry news by doing on-the-fly parodies of the days' news. The gems here are mixed but a magical call back to those times. "Editorial Reply" is probably the best take-off on "fair and balanced." "Senator Kennedy's Next Speech" is about the Ted K. car crash disaster. Harry Shearer's mimicry is stellar throughout and McKean and Lander are hilarious. Well worth a listen for comedy history and a look back at the 70s foibles.
