good stuff

What can I say…Dusty and the band Rock! Keep it up and if you don’t have their music, get it! Oh…and Florez, come back to Memphis!

Incredible!

These guys continue to amaze me with their unique style and creative lyrics. The instrumentation is second to none and their drummer is phenomenal. If you get a chance to see them live, do it!

Umm, it's good...

When I saw these guys in the fall of `05, they said they were struggling to settle on a style of music. Their earlier album "In Flight," was a little bit of everything; some rap, a little Latin flavor and a strong folky-rock presence with a little attitude, maybe arrogance. It really worked. Each track was unexpected, but enough so that it was entertaining; not confusing. The vocals and band are cohesive enough to string all the tracks together. “The Brooker Sessions” comes off restrained and softened. It sounds like some of the edge has been taken off and the songs are falling out in the middle instead of driving all the way through. The tracks carried over from "In Flight" help, but even they've been edited down a little. I hope that Florez isn’t banking on easy marketability for their success. Their appeal was their variety in each track. It was unique and identifiable, it had an edge. Hopefully Florez will find that fans just want to hear good music, whatever the style; Florez's distinct sound will always come through. I'm holding out for the next album to be more of that, but I love Florez and "The Brooker Sessions" is still a fun album! I can't wait to see what these guys do next!
