ABOUT THIS ALBUM
The Cake Sale, devised by Brian Crosby of Irish indie-rockers Bell X1, is a collective and concept album benefiting the Oxfam organization’s Make Trade Fair campaign and their other poverty relief projects. Featuring Gary Lightbody (Snow Patrol), Glen Hansard (The Frames/ONCE), Nick Seymour (Crowded House), Nina Persson (The Cardigans), and solo artists like Lisa Hannigan and Josh Ritter, the result is a cohesive, emotional album of songs with star power worthy of its cause.
great music, great cause, Irish at it's best
A bunch of the best Irish Artists doing a charity cd, developed from Brian Crosby of Bell X1 (as mentioned). Everyone got together and shared songs, most are covers from one Irish Artist to another, like Needles (written by Damien Rice) performed By Lisa hannigan, Some surprise written by Paul Noonan of Bell X1 and perfromed by Lisa and Gary Lightbody of Snow patrol- 'All the way down' written by Frames Glen Hansard performed by Gemma hayes, last leaf and "vapour Trail- written by David Gerhaghty and Paul Noonan of Bell X1 respectively. Well Bell X1 was an integral part of this and deserve a lot of credit for this great CD. BTW, 'Aliens' is the best, hands down, IMO. Check out Aliens, their all great though. a Must!!!!
Love Love Love
Im a huge Snow Patrol fan and found out about this project when I saw Gary was involved. Some Surprise has to be my favorite just because of its simplicity and sweetness, with Black Winged Bird coming in at a close second. I'm so glad the CD has finally been released in the US, I've been waiting for weeks! Buy it, you won't regret it.
