Customer Reviews
A Totally Great Idea...
As a regular user of these singing lessons I could not disagree more with that other review. This is a really OUTSTANDING singing course and a very intuitive way to develop a great singing voice. The course is not designed to replace a singing teacher but as an opportunity to learn foundation classical technique as applied to popular music at your own pace. I think this is a great step forward over learning just straight classical singing technique by itself -it's much more interesting for a start! I have been to many singing teachers over the years and some have been good but others seem more concerned about protecting their little domains than actually teaching you anything useful. The truth is that the vast majority of great singers in popular music are self taught. There are so many advantages to using this course to learn to sing. You are taught to sing properly so there is no chance to damage your voice. You only have to check out their podcast to see how much these guys know about singing. The Explore Your Voice Show is what got me on to their singing course in the first place. The podcast show is pretty famous worldwide and rightly so I think. Their singing course and podcast has really changed my life and for the first time I feel like I am really making progress. This is a course aimed at people who actually want to get up and sing, not just wade through endless vocal exercises.
A great solution for many
It may not be the perfect substitute for real voice lessons, but this is a great value for those of us w/o the resources. The lessons are great for amateurs or non-singers. I've noticed real improvement within the first hour of listening and practicing along with this. When you throw in the free podcast supplements to the series, it becomes even more valuable. Highly recommended to non-singers who want to sing well.
Very informative and educational, but a bit short
The lessons seem very well laid-out, the instructions clear, and the practice songs well within the comfort zone for somebody with no singing background. The instructor has a fantastic voice, something to aspire to. The only problem is that it's too short. Only two lessons -- although both are multi-part, making it look more like 8 lessons, it left me with the feeling there's a whole lot more they should be telling me.
