Timeless Christmas Album - Good All Year!
After all these years of listening to this album by the Crossing, I think it only gets better. There are some well-known holiday standbys here, but several of the songs are slightly obscure, or completely original. The celtic instrumentation is engaging and interesting, especially on Bethlehem Blue, an instrumental written by Mike Baznik, then the groups guitarist. I also love the Christ Child's Lullaby, played in a soothing tempo with beautiful harmonies. There's nothing on COAK that gets obnoxious, no Jingle Bell Rock or Grandma Got Run Over. And some of the songs are obscure enough that you could listen to the album all year long without feeling like there's tinsel wrapped around your head. It will remain on my Favorites of All Time list, I think forever.
