Album Review
Narada Michael Walden had seen the light, and it was a swirling disco ball. The multi-talented Michigan native saw that the way to the top of the charts was by way of the dancefloor. For The Dance of Life, the follow-up LP to his Awakening ("I Don't Want Nobody Else (To Dance With You)"), Walden square took aim at "dancing feet." The result was that the effervescent "I Shoulda Loved Ya" went to number four on the R&B charts and mid-charted pop in late 1979, while the album broke the R&B Top Ten. Its follow-up was the bright, brassy Top 40 R&B hit "Tonight I'm Alright." Other highlights are the acid rock-ish "You're Soo Good," "Crazy for Ya," "Carry On," and the wistful ballad "Why Did You Turn Me On."

Not Bad!
NMW, is this amazing drummer who decides to make a dance record, related to the Pop R&B Disco of the time. The thing is, it's a dance record with musicians that can flat out play. It was a fun album for the late 70's, that went over big at parties. One track, "The Dance of Life" is completely out of context with the rest of the album. This piece of music is a brilliant Jazz-Rock jam piece, that shows you what kind of band this really is. Musical "chops" galore.
Best All Time Song That Nobody Has Heard Of!
"The Dance of Life" is a must song for anyone who likes a true build-up song that literally is incredible with guitar and drums after a slow build-up. It has ALWAYS been my all-time favorite instrumental song. The part that itunes plays for the preview is right at the beginning and is an incredible disservice to the song..., Uggh. Some day it will get it's proper due. Corrado Rustici and Narada hold NOTHING back on this song. Realize I am just one person, but my other favorite performers are Pat Metheny and Lyle Mays' music writting and orchestrations. If you like these guys give it a try. There are other great songs on this CD, but "Dance of Life" has never gotten it's rightful glory.
