Customer Reviews

Classic Lustmord sound.

This is classic Lustmord in top form. After many (worthwile) collaborative efforts, this album is return to the essence for Lustmord. The production is flawless, as usual. The drone is unmistakably Lustmord, deep and dark. The Dark Places of the Earth and The Place Where the Dark Stars Hang are my absolute Lustmord (and dark ambient, at large) favorite albums. I will buy this album on CD when I get around to it. NOTE: Playback with a decent subwoofer is HIGHLY recommended.

"As terrifying as it is epic"

After luring you into his world of fear and despair in 2008 with OTHER, Brian "Lustmord" Williams continues to force his listeners to take the plunge in The Dark Places of the Earth. This is the remix of OTHER, and chocking in at 68 minutes long, it's a whole new world that OTHER left generally untouched. For while OTHER was built along with buddies like King Buzzo of the Melvins, Aaron Turner of Isis, and Adam Jones of Tool, using guitars as a crescendo during parts of the album, The Dark Places of the Earth shuns any use of such instrument, and return to the haunting drones that continually spur on Lustmord's work as a musician. This return to said drones is crushing, and will take the listener to a new level within OTHER; one that will without a doubt leave its mark on the listener. Newcomers and fans alike will enjoy this, although the newcomers might want to take a listen to OTHER first.

Born and raised in Wales, Williams first performed as Lustmord in 1980 as a series of unannounced "support slots" at larger gigs, with...
