Out of the ordinary, but...
...I'd have to disagree with stickynote. The sound they've put together is complex, moody, provocative, and forward-thinking. Now to put away the pretense hat, these beats F**K1NG ROCK! They're progressive like I've rarely heard four-to-the-floor house be on "Deep End." The guitar sounds like something a villain in a Clint Eastwood western would be introduced to. The bass is stable and carries what could otherwise be clashing textures though the song. The piano is dramatic and perfectly mixed in. I'd say the song on whole is a win. And though "Moss Man" is more straightforward, Curses! uses the knack they have for production texture to really make a sound that will push you around--simultaneously sounding new and hearkening back to 90's dance. The first Bart B remix of "Deep End" is solid-sounding, though about twice as long and more repetative than the original. What's more, I love the vocals on the original mix, which play a less crucial role in the remixes. Though these songs are out of the ordinary, Curses! is pushing the limits, and in my opinion succeeding with something extraordinary here.
