Not a Step in the Right Direction
Reaper has always had a very distinctive sound; a harsh industrial grind chugging away and overlaid with dozens of intricate layers of synth. On "The Devil is Female", though, it seems diluted, with much of the complexity lost. With no energy and no complexity, the malicious stylings seem overdone and even ridiculous. The album, honestly, has no redeeming features whatsoever. Hopefully his next effort will be more in line with previous releases.
