Album Review
If you live in the Northern Hemisphere, Flight of the Conchords' Sub-Pop EP The Distant Future is their debut. New Zealand's "fourth most popular folk-parody duo" released a live album and a box set of their radio show down where the water flushes the other way, but North Hems probably became aware of them through the 12-part series for HBO or, just as likely, the global menace of file-sharing. The Distant Future seems made to be a souvenir of the former, or maybe it's a placeholder till their promised full-length appears. Whichever it is, it is frustratingly short, giving only a taste of the deadpan, so-dumb-they're-smart world of the Conchords. It's hilarious as the two overestimate their understanding of life, love, and the future, the last of which they see as a world run by robots who know two dances, the classic robot and the new robot boogie. The live version of "Robots" is equaled by the studio version of "Business Time," which sounds something like having Barry White trying to sex up the most mundane suburban relationship story, that is if White were white, from New Zealand, and with thick glasses. Completing the trifecta is the casual "Banter," which is "just a professional version of talking" that every great band masters. Spinal Tap for the 21st century indie kid. More please.

Ain't No Parties Like FoC's Parties
Flight of the Conchords is the most amazing Kiwi comedic folk band ever in the history of Kiwi comedic folk bands. If this album (when the rest of it is released) includes She's So Hot, Boom!, Hiphopopotamus vs. Rhymenoceros, and Think, Think About It, I will be the happiest person ever. Flight of the Conchords' style varies from song to song, but all of their stuff is written to be funny, which it is. They experiment with different genres as well, and have everything from story songs, children's music, rap battles, and love songs. They have a unique talent for making the music stand alone as well, and even if they wrote serious songs, they would still be "good." This album is incomplete--and so is my review. More when the rest comes out.
Conchordian delight
What a quaint and delicious little appetizer of Conchords before their full album is released sometime in January of 2008. Jemaine and Bret.....said wunderkinds of New Zealand's fourth most popular folk-parody duo (number 3 is a tribute band called 'Like of the Conchords' who dress up like them and are slightly more popular). These guys will acoustic-guitar-you into a laugh-fueled frenzy. And after you've recovered from your laugh induced hysterics you'll come to realize that these guys actually are amazingly talented musicians. So if you're not into dry, awkward, slightly sexist, hilarious and gets-the-job-done humor......well too bad because you should give these guys a shot anyways strictly for how cute they are. Anyone who can incorporate kebabs into one of there songs gets my vote as best digi-folk parody duo.

if this is not the funniest most talented acoustic duo ive ever listened to... then the world is a sad place. they make tenacious d look like amateurs. i cant wait until they release a full length album. itll be too long of a wait.
