Summertime! plus...

Shades of Joy Division and early New Order, but with a sunshiney vibe. Favorite tracks: Best Friend, Forever & Ever Amen, Let's Go Surfing.

The Beach Boys meet Joy Division

These guys are something else. Ridiculously pop/indie songs with an edge. The vocal arrangements are stellar. Jon Pierce doesn't have the best voice in the world, but it works. He also has quite a stage presence. His dancing is infectious. Their is really not a bad song in the bunch. I wish they hadn't included songs from the Summertime EP, but I guess they will reach a wider audience now. They have practically taken up residence in Europe, even though they are from Brooklyn by way of upstate New York (Horseheads). If you like this and are looking for more, check out Pierce's last band, Elkland, although it is much more (almost completely) synth-pop oriented. After their huge tour with Erasure, the band imploded. But out of the ashes rose The Drums....and I couldn't be happier with the result. If you like 80s alternative pop, you will love this. Fans of The Ocean Blue and The Three O'Clock will probably really like this also.

i need fun in my life

dig The Drums, The Like, and Jack Skuller.
