The Essential Cheap Trick is overflowing with a lively 36 tracks, starting off with the glittery stomp of “ELO Kiddies,” the first song off their 1977 self-titled debut. Following this number with the riff-rocking, fist-pumping “Hot Love” and the guitar pop gem “He’s A Whore” — also from the band’s first album — keeps the sequence running chronologically cool until the fourth track where the band made the decision to insert a 1998 live version of “Mandocello” with Billy Corgan from Smashing Pumpkins. But the momentum immediately picks up again with the infectious “Clock Strikes Ten,” a hair-shaking rock ‘n’ roller from 1977’s In Color that recalls Ohio’s power pop pioneers Blue Ash. Add on “Hello There,” the minute-and-41-second anthem that set the tone for the essential 1979 youth rebellion film Over The Edge along with staple hits “Surrender” and “Dream Police” and it’s obvious that the first disc of this compilation is the better half. Still, with “She’s Tight” and a live version of “Hard To Tell,” the second disc rocks hard and heavy as well.

Good Collection to have

This is a great collection of music to have for any rock fan. Cheap Trick is one of the best bands of the 70's - 80's and you probably know them by such hits as "I want you to want me" or "Surrender". This collection includes most any Cheap Trick song you'll ever want to hear. But there also might be some that you won't like, perhaps having 2 disks was a mistake. But it's not all that expensive for the ammount of songs you get, and if you buy any of their albums, I'd reccomend this one.

they have influenced to many bands not to be noticed..Nikki Sixxs speaks highly of them and many more do too..

Cheap Trick!

Cheap Trick is an awesome band. Apart from their more pop-oriented songs, they have awesome rockers, such as E.L.O. kiddies, california man, and Downed, and their 80's output like I can't take it and The Flame. Best of all, this displays the range and the pure edge of one of the Greatest american bands EVER. buy the whole thing. buy it now.
