Columbia/Legacy's double-disc set The Essential Earth, Wind & Fire lives up to its title by offering 34 tracks of the groundbreaking funk band at its peak. All of the hits, whether they're R&B or tunes that crossed over to the pop charts, are here, along with important album tracks that capture the range and depth of EWF. Since this focuses on their peak of the '70s and early '80s, there's very little here that doesn't qualify as "essential," which makes it a better bet than their box set. The Essential Earth Wind & Fire
The ONLY EW&F cd I've had these past few years is Gratitude .... For my most recent birthday I got an IPOD (last in the family - BTW) Well, after I put all my music on my IPOD, I did not have near enough EW&F I found all my vinyl lp's .... man, I've got alot of 'em I was going to transfer them to my hard drive via my old pioneer turntable - etc - etc ... NO WAY !!!! I thought about buying all their songs, albums .... SERIOUSLY !!! Then while browsing around - I came across this CD - THE ESSENTIAL EW&F I truly love it .... it has just about all my favorites - except one ... SEE THE LIGHT I'll gladly buy that one .... This is a most excellent CD ... I recommend it to all EW&F fans & lovers.

I purchased this as a set and it has 34 songs between 2 cds. It has every single hit song you can imagine! From "Reasons" to "September" to "Shining Star" this set never skips a beat. It's an excellent collection for an EWF fan. Buy this and you will never have to buy another Earth Wind And Fire Greatest Hits CD Ever !
