so hard.....
It's so tough to hear a "weakerthans" record without John Samson.....it's still well written and cleverly executed, but something is missing. Nonetheless, something entirely new and not at all unattractive is present...I bought it, I like it, but I can't call it the Weakerthans. Buy John's new solo stuff!
I wanted to hate this...
Quite honestly the thought of hearing the weakerthans without John Samson's voice at the helm made me cringe. As soon as you get past this though, you realize how spectacular the record is. I'm going to resist the temptation to recommend favorite songs off the record, because like other weakerthans records, the album tells a story, so start at the beginning and listen the whole way through.
Easily one of the year's top 10 albums.
