Album Review

With the Forbidden Love EP, Death Cab for Cutie turns in five more thoughtful, sweetly sad reflections on lost and unrequited love. An acoustic version of "405" and an alternate take of "Company Calls Epilogue" — both originally from We Have the Facts and We're Voting Yes — highlight the group's knack for writing bruised, bittersweet pop songs, and in the process reaffirm the greatness of We Have the Facts.... Likewise, the three new tracks, "Photobooth," "Technicolor Girls," and "Song for Kelly Huckaby" showcase the creative arrangements, the clean but understated production, and the heartfelt, heartbroken vocals that put Death Cab for Cutie head and shoulders above most indie rock groups of the late-'90s to early-'00s. Though Forbidden Love is not as deep an exploration of Death Cab for Cutie's sound as the band's full-length albums, this EP is still a wonderfully concise sampler of just what the group can do.

utter genius

Clearly Ben Gibbard is one of the most creative and songwriters of our generation. The genius behind Dearth Cab, Postal Service, and All Time Quarterback strikes gold again with this simple and scenic ep

Really Great!

i have this ep on a cd and its my favorite of all there releases the song Photobooth is worth the five dollars alone and should be one of there most popular songs but itunes only recntly put the ep up, a relly nice take on them though and definatly one of the rarest releases and most compelling

Death Cab for Cutie's rise from small-time solo project to Grammy-nominated rock band is one of indie rock's greatest success stories. Launched in the bayside college town of Bellingham, Washington, the group was originally a side project for singer/guitarist Ben Gibbard, an engineering student at Western Washington University who split his time between school and music. Taking a break from his local power pop band, Pinwheel, Gibbard began recording an album's worth of solo material during the summer...
