iTunes Review

Best known for his timeless classic "Regulate," Warren G played a crucial role in the evolution of hip-hop, as the man who introduced his homie Snoop Dogg to his half-brother Dr. Dre, facilitating a union that would go on to create countless hits. A talented producer/DJ/MC in his own right, Warren never really got as much recognition as those around him, but still found success as a solo artist throughout the ‘90s. Post-millennium, he's been somewhat more low profile, dropping sporadic albums independently, and doing time on a pair of reality shows. On The G-files, his sixth full-length, he looks to recapture lost momentum, while also displaying a newer, more modern sound. Old-school fans hoping to hear that classic Cali vibe may be left disappointed, and though clearly not as earth-shattering as his earlier work, there are still some exceptional tracks on here, most notably the mellow "Skate Skate," weed anthem "Let's Get High," and "Suicide," featuring Rbx.
