Album Review
When Gap Band III came out in 1980, the Wilson Brothers were widely regarded as true heavyweights in the funk field. Many funk experts will tell you that creatively, they were right up there with the likes of Cameo, Rick James, the Isley Brothers, and the Bar-Kays in the early '80s. Over the years, The Gap Band III (which was the group's fifth album, not its third) has often been described as the ultimate Gap Band album — and it's hard to disagree with that assertion. Produced by Lonnie Simmons, this exceptional album boasts three of the Wilson Brothers' biggest radio hits: "Burn Rubber on Me" (a funk classic), the Parliament-minded "Humpin'," and the quiet storm slow jam "Yearning for Your Love." But The Gap Band III is also full of gems that weren't big radio hits, including "Gash Gash Gash" (another funk classic), the perky, Earth, Wind & Fire-ish "Are You Living" and the ballad "Nothin' Comes to Sleepers." There isn't a dull moment on The Gap Band III, which is excellent from start to finish and is essential listening for funk addicts.

One of the best!!!!
by Xzar54We had this cassette tape when I was young, so I love these songs! True Story: I was driving home from my Aunt's house and I forgot that my iPod died and hadn't recharged it. I kept this tape in the car in case I forgot my iPod. So I put it in and went back in time. I got home and downloaded the songs that I didn't have. I had the quiet storm classic "Yearning For Your Love", personal family favorite "Nothing Comes To Sleepers" and the funk banger "Humpin'. I wanted the rest of it! For some reason I didn't have this on CD. We still have the 45 record (yes, a record..) of "Burn Rubber". This album is one of my favorites in my collection. It makes me wanna have a cookout!! The Wilson brothers are on their mark with this album! Every song is cohesive with one another. The album has a nice flow and doesn't overkill you with too many of this and too many that. It's just right. The writing is superb! You will enjoy it....BUY THIS ALBUM!!!!!!!!!!!
Gap Band
by dobguy1These guys were bangin in the eirly eighties, I remember listening to them on 8 track at 13 yrs old, they along with Earth Wind and Fire, Stevie Wonder, Rick James all paved the way for the wannabes we have seen since the early 90s. These bands are and always will be the first and only origionals! Cant touch them!
A Must Have
by Ess Eff ArrGap Band III is a must have for your R&B/Funk collection. It's one of those albums that you can just hit play and sit back. You'll like every song. You can hear Earth, Wind & Fire, Parliament, and Stevie Wonder influence all in the same album. Just listen to "Are You Living", "Humpin", and "When I Look in Your Eyes". The timeless "Burn Rubber" was just ahead of it's time! And remember, you can't have Gap Band III and not have Gap Band IV - These are by far their two best albums.
