by RobogardThis recording is where it all began and in my opinion is one of the top three albums they ever released. It did not do well when it first came out and was even put in religious music sections I've read which did not help!! To anyone who is a fan of Peter Gabriel era Genesis should really have this if you do not already. A fine work, ALL of it! If I were iTunes and had to choose between this recording and "Lamb" Gabriels last Genesis album, I would pick This first album Originaly titled from Genesis to Revelation.
put it in perspective
by rational oneI agree with others that Genesis' Gabriel-era albums should be available, perhaps there are legal issues to which we can't be privy.But think about putting this in perspective before simply slamming it because you don't like it, or because you're perhaps angry that iTunes doesn't have other albums available that you want. The music was created in the mid-sixties to early seventies. And it sounds like it. Celebrate the diversity of some of the great musicians of our time (to me, especially Peter) and appreciate the effort put in to bring exposure of some of this rare and/or unknown stuff. Remember that many people have no idea of the link between Genesis and Peter Gabriel.I don't love the music on this, but I'm glad it's put together to let people know about the history.
