This is really 4.99 stars!
Every parent who makes his or her living in the music business would be overjoyed to have their children turn out half as talented as this "Son of Champlin." The Goldmine Sessions is a consistent mix of musical class. Word has it Will has put together a five piece band to accompany his live performances. If anything, that is the only element that this recording is lacking. It would be nice to hear the energy and interaction of varied musicians doing Will's material, but for someone producing and playing everything themselves, all I can say is - awesome. This is a great work for such a young singer-songwriter.
The Goldmine Sessions
Pleasant Surprise: Long time east bay music fan: TOP, Sons of Champlin, Cold Blood, Stoneground etc....... It is great to see (hear) the perpetuation of the second generation. Long time fan of the talents of Bill Champlin, I am looking forward to the continue growth and development of Will Champlin. Very good first time out LP for a singer/songwriter (God only Knows, One World, Shout It Out, To Find This Dream) are excellent cuts. Not fair to compare the vocals to Bill, that is like comparing all over receivers to Jerry Rice, they just don't compare. I enjoyed this effort and will be watching for his future efforts.

Will Champlin is one talented writer and singer. I've enjoyed getting to know his special soulful sound and writings. His: One World and God Only Knows and really all the other tunes show such a maturity for a young man. Love his writing, singing and looking forward to more.
